Christmas Food Ideas 2020

In 2020, it is likely that Christmas may not be the same as previous years and it is likely that we could be restricted to what we can or can’t do. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and consistent fluctuating restrictions. Currently, the entirety of England is in lockdown, however, this is due to end in early December, although, it has not been ruled out by the government that it could be extended past this date. Even though this may seem negative, this does not mean in any way that we cannot celebrate Christmas this year and enjoy it with some of the traditions that we have each year, such as presents, seeing family, and enjoying festive foods.

Food is one of the things that certainly will not change this year, and we will still be able to enjoy the traditional Christmas dinner, Christmas treats such as mince pies, and indulge in Christmas desserts such as Christmas. For many, Christmas is seen as a gateway for people to eat the foods they most enjoy, as unhealthy as they may be, and blame indulging in these foods on it being the festive season. As food traditions are likely to stay the same this year, this blog displays some fantastic ideas for food for this Christmas.

Food As Gifts

Each year, there is sure to be at least person who you buy food as for a gift, usually as the item of food is their absolute favourite. As a change in 2020, why not make the food yourself for the recipient? Not only will they be provided with their absolute favourite, but they will also be highly appreciative of the time and effort that you have put into making the item of food for them. Christmas is not all about the value of the product. For many, it’s about showing appreciations to others, having fun, and making others happy. By making food for somebody else as a gift, it ticks all three of those off. There are many recipes online to match peoples favourite foods that you can cook yourself.

Smaller Christmas Dinner

If this year you’d prefer to stay at home for the safety of your family members or yourself, have you considered having a smaller Christmas dinner within your home? Christmas dinner traditionally involves turkey, which usually is sold as a whole. Whole turkeys can feed many at once, and if you’re not having people to your home or not with many other this Christmas, it may not be necessary to use a whole turkey for Christmas dinner.

Instead, there are turkey crowns that are much easier to cook this year for you and a small group to enjoy with other Christmas dinner essentials such as pigs and blankets, vegetables, gravy, stuffing, and more. How you have your Christmas dinner is also entirely down to you and you do not necessarily have to have turkey. Gammon, Beef, Three or Four Bird Roasts, and vegetarian or vegan options are also very common at Christmas time for Christmas Dinner.
